Reap the Wild Wind**
(US 1941)
Two seamen tackling the threat of pirate wreckers on the Florida Keys compete for the attention of a feisty Southern Belle.
Entertaining seabound variation on Gone with the Wind, not entirely satisfying in its plot, but forceful with scarcely a dull moment, and a melodramatic courtroom climax and an even more improbable giant squid finale.
Written by: Alan le May, Jesse Lasky Jnr, from a story by Thelma Strabel.
Producer/Director: Cecil B. de Mille.
Starring: Ray Milland, John Wayne, Paulette Goddard, Raymond Massey, Robert Preston, Susan Hayward, Lynne Overman, Charles Bickford, Louise Beavers, Hedda Hopper.
Photography: Victor Milner, Dewey Wrigley, William V. Skall.
Music: Victor Young.
Art Direction: Hans Dreier, Roland Anderson.
