Run Silent Run Deep**

(US 1958)

A submarine commander forces his way onto a new sub to tackle a Japanese hot-spot in the Pacific.
Quite gripping and efficient WWII underwater thriller (influential for the later likes of The Hunt for Red October, K-19 and Crimson Tide), with performances and general professionalism helping to maintain the suspense, even if the enemy at times just seems to resemble ducks in a shooting gallery.

Written by: John Gray, from the novel by Commander Edward L. Beach Jnr.
Producer: Harold Hecht.
Director: Robert Wise.
Starring: Clark Gable, Burt Lancaster, Jack Warden, Brad Dexter, Mary LaRoche, Don Rickles, Nick Cravat.
Photography: Russell Harlan.
Music: Franz Waxman.
